Chris Carson 2021 Outlook: A High Quality Fantasy Starter When Available
4 years agoAfter there was some speculation that he would not return to Seattle, Chris Carson signed a two-year deal to remain with the Seahawks. Carson is an admirable and physical runner who can often play at fantasy RB1 levels when he is on the field. He averaged 15.7 ppg last season, which put him right on the cusp of RB1 production in terms of how he performed when he was healthy. Carson is the clear goal-line finisher on a potent offense and does more than just bang for yardage, as he has very good vision and balance and can glide, juke, cut and slash his way for extra yardage. Last season, he also became more of a factor in the Seattle passing game, as he tied a career high with 37 catches and had a career-best four touchdown receptions in 12 games. But there will always be durability concerns with Carson, as his injury history is well documented. Last season he dealt with a foot sprain and an MCL sprain, and the year before he sprained a shoulder and fractured his hip late in the regular season. Carson is not going to change his running style, so the outlook remains much the same. He is a very good fantasy RB2 candidate and can even be viewed as a value play at an ADP of 49.7. Just make sure you grab some injury insurance behind Carson.
