Chase Petty Turns In Quality Start For Double-A Chattanooga
6 months agoCincinnati Reds pitching prospect Chase Petty earned the win with six innings of one-run ball for Double-A Chattanooga on Tuesday. He scattered five hits and two walks while striking out five. The 21-year-old right-hander is now 5-2 in 13 starts with a 5.25 ERA and 1.53 WHIP at Double-A this season. The Reds' No. 6 prospect was dominant in 2023 (mainly at High-A) and has taken some time to adjust to his first entire season at Double-A this year. His good fastball-slider combination makes him a dangerous pitcher, and he has recorded 53 strikeouts in 58 1/3 innings this season. Petty is an intriguing arm in the Reds' system headlined by Rhett Lowder. He could pitch his way into an eventual big-league rotation spot if he shows steady improvement in the upper levels of the minors.
