Chandler Smith entered Daytona 500 Duel No. 1 as a late replacement for the Garage 66 team's entry, the No. 66 Ford. Smith started the Duel from the 22nd position, and at first, the No. 66 driver would maintain a position in the back until after the race's first incident, where Zane Smith cut a tire down and crashed. After this caution, Smith began moving towards the front in the proceeding laps. Smith made it as high as third on lap 13 until he got in front of Justin Haley, damaging Haley's car and spinning himself into the wall, causing a multi-car wreck. As a result, Smith did not continue due to too much crash damage and settled for a finish of 20th. Smith would miss the Daytona 500 after Justin Allgaier placed ninth and raced his way into the event and will instead focus on his first Truck Series race with Front Row Motorsports. --Sean Engel - RotoBaller
