Carlos Correa Not The Same Player Heading Into Playoffs
6 years agoHouston Astros shortstop Carlos Correa will head into the playoffs as one of the biggest question marks on the offense. Typing that sentence in 2017 would look insane but Correa has endured a season of injuries and ineffectiveness. A back injury in late June sidelined the All-Star for over a month and simply has not been himself since he returned to the lineup. Over his last 37 games, Correa is slashing .180/.261/.256 with only six extra-base hits through 133 at-bats. The 24-year-old has been bumped from the middle of the order and it is unclear what kind of production the team can expect from him in the playoffs. The Astros will face Indians right-hander Corey Kluber on Friday and Correa is 3-for-14 over the last three seasons against him with a double and a home run. There are better fantasy options among shortstops in the playoffs than Correa right now.
