Veteran winger Carl Hagelin has announced his retirement from the NHL after failing to recover from an eye injury. The 35-year-old injured his eye in practice in March 2022 and he hasn't played since. Hagelin has also had a pair of recent hip surgeries. The Sweden native spent his final few seasons in the league with the Washington Capitals and played for five teams in total, becoming a multiple Stanley Cup champion with the Pittsburgh Penguins. He notched 110 goals and 186 assists in 713 regular-season appearances. Hagelin's contract with the Capitals expired this summer and he became an unrestricted free agent.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBallerRead More News
