Cardinals Hoping Nolan Arenado Can Return Mid-Week
6 months agoThe St. Louis Cardinals are hopeful that third baseman Nolan Arenado (forearm) will be able to avoid a stint on the injured list while dealing with left forearm nerve irritation, according to manager Oliver Marmol. Arenado has been battling the issue for some time but he reported feeling better on Monday, and the team hopes he can return to the lineup by the middle of the week. The 33-year-old All-Star is missing a second straight game on Monday against the visiting Atlanta Braves. Veteran Brandon Crawford is making another start at the hot corner and is batting eighth against Braves rookie right-hander Spencer Schwellenbach. Crawford has become a backup at this point in his career and is a poor DFS choice near the bottom of the lineup. He's also hitting just .196 (9-for-46) in his first year in St. Louis with a homer and three RBI.
