Cade Horton to Undergo MRI on his Back
Cade Horton (back) undergo an MRI exam "to see what we're dealing with," according to manager Craig Counsell. "We're optimistic, but we want to make sure we know what we're dealing with or if we're dealing with anything," Counsell said. The Cubs pulled Horton early from his outing on Tuesday against the New York Mets as a precaution after his back tightened up. It doesn't sound like the 24-year-old's injury is very serious, but the Cubs want to make sure with the playoffs starting next week. Depending on what they find, the impressive rookie might not be able to pitch in the wild-card series. If his back injury turns out to be nothing, it's possible Horton could start in Game 1 of the wild-card series next Tuesday. The former first-rounder has been great in his first 23 outings (22 starts), going 11-4 with a 2.67 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, and 97 strikeouts in 118 innings pitched.
