Broderick Jones May Not Play Immediately
1 year agoThe Pittsburgh Steelers seem content with first-round offensive tackle Broderick Jones sitting and learning for a while. How long Jones sits in his rookie season will depend entirely on him. "If you draft a guy in the first round, you're not drafting a guy to sit him," offensive line coach Pat Meyer said. "It's the nature of the business. When he's ready to play and we think he's ready to play, the kid is going to play." Although the Steelers have spoken highly of left tackle Dan Moore Jr., Jones could still come out and dominate in training camp and win the starting job in Week 1. If there was a potential weakness that arose for Jones in spring workouts, it was with the speed rushers. It could take the 22-year-old a little bit to adjust to the speed of the NFL.
