Brock Purdy Faces Tougher Defense In Divisional Round
2 years agoSan Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy faces a big test in the Divisional Round of the playoffs when the Niners host the Dallas Cowboys. The 23-year-old has not faced a defense as good as the Cowboys before. The Cowboys' ferocious front seven ranks fourth in sacks and second in sack rate. Led by CBs DaRon Bland and Trevon Diggs, they have made the ninth-most interceptions while allowing the eighth-fewest passing yards per game and seventh-fewest per pass. Purdy has had big games against teams that rank in the bottom half of the league in fantasy points allowed to QBs. The Cowboys allow the eleventh-fewest fantasy points per game. The Cowboys' pass coverage is susceptible to big plays. Diggs has allowed more yards after catch than all but four cornerbacks, and Dallas has allowed 23 touchdowns through the air. It's a good bet coach Kyle Shanahan can scheme some plays up. Purdy remains a viable fantasy starter in the Divisional Round, albeit a riskier start.
