New York Islanders forward Brock Nelson scored a first-period goal in defeat of New Jersey 3-2 in a shootout. Nelson and the Islanders continue to stay unbeaten through nine contests. The centerman has recorded 12 goals and five helpers through 29 Islanders games. He is centering the team's second line and adding 67 shots on goal in the process. The Warroad, Minnesota native, has been particularly sharp lately, scoring five goals in his last five games.
