Brice Matthews Posts Second Straight Three-Hit Game
Brice Matthews went 3-for-4 with a home run and a walk during Wednesday's contest against Triple-A Reno. This was Matthews's second-straight game tallying at least three hits and his second-straight game hitting a long ball. Prior to this recent surge, Matthews went 1-for-17 at the plate with an 8:4 K:BB over his last five games. The top-ranked prospect in the Houston system has spent the entire campaign with Triple-A Sugar Land. Through 51 games, Matthews has been productive, posting a .269/.397/.478 slash line with six doubles, four triples, eight home runs, and 18 stolen bases. During his first taste of the top level of the minor leagues last summer, Matthews posted a modest .143/.250/.190 line. The 23-year-old could be in the mix to join Houston in the second half.
