Braves Not Considering Trading Ronald Acuna Jr.
2 years agoThe Atlanta Braves are not considering trading right fielder Ronald Acuna Jr. or any other young player they have signed to an extension. The Braves don't award no-trade clauses to players as part of their policy, but a player that signs an extension does it with implicit understanding that he won't be traded. Atlanta is also unlikely to sign a free-agent shortstop other than Dansby Swanson. President of baseball operations Alex Anthopoulos mentioned Orlando Arcia and Vaughn Grissom as internal options if the team can't re-sign Swanson. Acuna, still only 24, made his third All-Star team in 2022 despite dealing with nagging injuries throughout the season. He finished with a .266/.351/.413 slash line, 15 home runs, 50 RBI, 71 runs scored and 29 stolen bases in 119 games.
