Braves Making Several Veterans Available at the Trade Deadline
Marcell Ozuna, closer Raisel Iglesias, and reliever Pierce Johnson are on the trade block, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today. Both Ozuna and Iglesias will be free agents at the end of this season, while Johnson has a $7 million club option for 2026 with a $250k buyout. Ozuna has fallen off relative to his performance from 2023-24, but he's still slashing a respectable .235/.361/.390 with 13 home runs and 42 RBI. Iglesias experienced a similar decline in 2025, posting an elevated 5.12 ERA and 1.24 WHIP with just 11 saves. However, his 21.5% K-BB% and 3.79 xERA both indicate that he's been better than his surface-level numbers suggest. Johnson has quietly been a rock-solid right-handed relief option in Atlanta, recording a 2.78 ERA and 1.12 WHIP with 39 strikeouts in 35 2/3 innings pitched this season. He profiles more as a setup man than a closer, but he did record 13 saves for the Colorado Rockies in 2023.
