Braves Have Checked In On Justin Turner
4 years agoThe Atlanta Braves are among the teams that have checked in on free-agent third baseman Justin Turner. The veteran third baseman doesn't have a shortage of suitors, but most still see the Los Angeles Dodgers as heavy favorites to re-sign him. The Blue Jays were also interested, but that's more unlikely after they signed infielder Marcus Semien to a contract this week. In his seven seasons with the Blue, Turner has a .302 batting average, .503 slugging percentage and an .886 OPS. On top of that, he's hit .295 with a .507 slugging percentage and an .899 OPS in 72 playoff games. Los Angeles wants to keep Turner's right-handed bat in the lineup as well, but the length of his contract is what is holding up a potential return for Turner. He's not the sexiest fantasy pick at age 36, but Turner has proven to be a consistent producer and will be a great late-round pick, especially if he returns to the Dodgers stacked lineup.
