Brandon Williamson Targeting A September Return
5 months agoCincinnati Reds left-hander Brandon Williamson (shoulder) will throw his first bullpen session on July 23 and is targeting a return in September. Williamson is battling a lesion on his left shoulder and hasn't been able to pitch at all to this point in 2024. The 26-year-old southpaw received an injection in his shoulder last month, though, and he's finally ready to resume throwing off a mound later this month. Eventually, Williamson will need a lengthy minor-league rehab assignment before he's an option to make his season debut in the big leagues. He made his big-league debut in 2023 and went 5-5 with a 4.46 ERA (4.63 FIP), 1.28 WHIP and a 98:39 K:BB in 117 innings over 23 starts. Williamson could be worth watching heading into the 2025 campaign, but fantasy managers can avoid him the rest of this season.
