Brandon Crawford Placed On 10-Day Injured List
1 year agoThe San Francisco Giants placed shortstop Brandon Crawford (knee) on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to July 17) on Wednesday with left-knee inflammation and recalled infielder David Villar from Triple-A Sacramento in a corresponding move. The team also returned outfielder Bryce Johnson to Sacramento. Crawford is nearing the end of the line in his 13th MLB season. Entering Wednesday's action, he's slashing just .207/.285/.333 with five home runs, 10 doubles, 26 RBI, three stolen bases and 22 runs scored in 64 games, and now he's injured again. Rookie Casey Schmitt is getting the start at the 6 on Wednesday against Cincinnati Reds right-hander Graham Ashcraft, and he should see most of the playing time there until Crawford is able to return.
