Blake Bortles Not A Placeholder In Jacksonville
7 years agoJacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles, who recently signed a three-year, $26 million guaranteed contract extension, isn't seen as a placeholder by the team. “He is not a place-holder. This wasn’t a decision where he’s going to be here for a year and we’re going to be keeping our eyes out," general manager Dave Caldwell said. Bortles bounced back from an awful 2016 season to post a career-high 60.2 completion percentage while leading the team to an AFC title loss to the Patriots. He also had five games with a passer rating of 100. Bortles didn't do anything to kill the Jaguars this year, and he was helped by a strong defense on the other side. Don't be foolish to think that just because the Jags have more confidence in him that he'll suddenly become a QB1 for fantasy purposes.
