Bears Still Value Dion Sims
7 years agoChicago Bears tight end Dion Sims still has value to the team's offense heading into 2018, according to head coach Matt Nagy. “The nice thing with Dion is that he’s a guy that’s proven to be a solid blocker,” Nagy said. “He can be in there and be your Y tight end, but yet he still has really good hands. He can make plays on intermediate routes. He’s not going to be anybody that’s a downfield threat — I think he knows that, we all know that — but he’s a valuable piece of this puzzle.” Chicago had the chance to cut Sims before March 16 and save $5.666 million against the salary cap. He's coming off a bad year with just 15 catches for 180 yards and a touchdown, and the Bears added Trey Burton in free agency and also have promising sophomore Adam Shaheen in the fold. Sims is a better blocker than pass catcher and is unlikely to hold any fantasy value unless Burton is injured.
