Bailey Ober Expected to Make Next Start in Majors
Bailey Ober (hip) is expected to make his next start in the majors. The Twins haven't chosen a date yet, but it could come during the team's upcoming series against the Boston Red Sox or Cleveland Guardians. Ober, on the 15-day injured list with a left-hip impingement since June 29, has been rehabbing in the minors. He made a start for Triple-A St. Paul on Friday and coasted through five innings of one-run, two-hit ball with six strikeouts and one walk. While Ober was an effective starter for the Twins from 2021-24, this season has been a different story. Across 17 starts and 92 innings, the 6-foot-9 hurler has struggled to a 5.28 ERA with a 1.41 WHIP, 74:22 K:BB, and a paltry 28.7% groundball rate. The wheels came off over five June starts, during which Ober combined to surrender 30 earned runs on 38 hits over 30 frames. The 30-year-old will attempt to turn around his fortunes when the team reinstates him during the upcoming week.
