3 years agoPittsburgh Steelers running back Anthony McFarland Jr. (knee) has been designated to return from Injured Reserve and will return to practice on Wednesday. The Steelers will now have 21 days to activate McFarland from Injured Reserve. The 22-year-old should compete for the primary backup role behind rookie Najee Harris when he's ready. To this point, Benny Snell Jr. and Kalen Ballage have been backup up Harris in Pittsburgh's backfield. A fourth-rounder in 2020, McFarland had 33 carries for 113 yards and also caught six of his nine targets for 54 yards in 11 games (no starts) in his rookie season behind a bad offensive line.
