Angels Agree With Jason Castro

The Los Angeles Angels agreed to a one-year, $6.85 million deal with catcher Jason Castro on Thursday night, according to sources. Castro will join Max Stassi as the Angels backstops for 2020, and they should both split playing time pretty evenly throughout the season. Castro, 32, is known as more of a defensive catcher, but he can also contribute modestly with the lumber. He hit .232/.332/.435 with 13 home runs and 30 RBI in 79 games in his third and final season with the Twins in 2019. Because he won't be playing every day, Castro will be more of an option as your second backstop in two-catcher leagues next season.
