Andrew Vaughn Demoted to Triple-A
Andrew Vaughn to Triple-A Charlotte. Vaughn gets the boot to help make room on the active roster for both outfielders Andrew Benintendi (calf) and Mike Tauchman (hamstring), who returned from the injured list on Friday. Vaughn was hitting just .189/.218/.314 with a .531 OPS, five home runs, 19 RBI, nine runs scored, seven walks and 43 strikeouts in 193 plate appearances in 48 games. The 27-year-old former third overall pick in 2019 out of Cal Berkeley will most likely be back up in the majors again at some point in 2025, but for now, he'll go down to the farm to try and work on his swing. Miguel Vargas is starting at first and is batting third on Friday against the Texas Rangers and right-hander Tyler Mahle, and he figures to see most of the playing time there now that Vaughn is at Triple-A.
