Alika Williams Activated And Optioned
6 months agoThe Pittsburgh Pirates activated infielder Alika Williams (wrist) from the 10-day injured list on Wednesday and optioned him to Triple-A Indianapolis. Williams recently missed some time with a right-wrist sprain, but he's healthy now and will go back to the minors to bide his time until Pittsburgh needs more infield depth at the major-league level. The 25-year-old former 37th overall pick by the Tampa Bay Rays in 2020 out of Arizona State isn't much of a fantasy option, even in the deepest of leagues, as he's hit just .202 (33-for-163) with no home runs, six doubles, two triples, eight RBI, one stolen base, 11 walks and 49 strikeouts in 180 plate appearances and 69 games since making his big-league debut in 2023. Jared Triolo will continue to serve as Pittsburgh's primary utility infielder with Williams being sent down.
