Alexander Mattison 2023 NFL Player Outlook: Steps Into An Elite Fantasy Role
1 year agoMinnesota Vikings running back Alexander Mattison has been one of the biggest winners this offseason. After signing a two-year extension with the Vikings, he is officially the incumbent starter, with Dalvin Cook now on the New York Jets. The 25-year-old steps into a role that has consistently produced a fantasy RB1 over the last few years. Plus, we've seen Mattison in this role when Cook has been out from injury, and he has been excellent. In his six games playing 50% or more of snaps, the 24-year-old has averaged 94 rushing yards and 0.5 rushing touchdowns. Although his receiving work could have been more prolific, he saw two games last season where he had eight and seven targets, respectively. The Vikings have yet to make any other additions to this backfield, providing Mattison the opportunity to be an RB1 for fantasy.
