Alex Wood To Throw Again Saturday
5 years agoCincinnati Reds starting pitcher Alex Wood (back) felt good during live batting practice on Tuesday and is set for another live session on Saturday. He threw 21 pitches to three hitters on Tuesday in his first mound work against hitters since spring training. Wood has been out with lower back spasms since Feb. 25 and will be making his Reds debut when he makes his way back. If all goes well on Saturday, Wood will go out on a rehab assignment, where he'll need at least a handful of starts before being activated. The southpaw had some good seasons in L.A. before being traded and has been an innings-eater, but fantasy owners in mixed leagues will want to take a wait-and-see approach before scooping him up after such a long layoff.
