Alex Cobb Looking, Feeling Good
5 years agoBaltimore Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said that starting pitcher Alex Cobb (back, hip, knee) looked good while watching him throw a side session during minicamp earlier this month. "He looked great, he felt great, so that's huge news for us," Hyde said. Cobb made just three starts for the O's last season due to multiple injuries, and he allowed 15 earned runs in 12 1/3 innings (10.95 ERA) with nine homers allowed. Pretty bad. He wasn't all that much better in 2018 with a 4.90 ERA and 1.41 WHIP with just 102 strikeouts and 43 walks in 152 1/3 innings (28 starts). The right-hander should be ready for the regular season, but owners in mixed leagues should be looking to stay away from this declining pitcher who resides in a hitter-friendly park in the toughest division in baseball.
