Alek Manoah Picks Up Ninth Loss Thursday
1 year agoToronto Blue Jays right-hander Alek Manoah labored in the team's 4-3 loss to the Cleveland Guardians on Thursday night. In four innings of work, Manoah allowed four earned runs on four hits while walking three and striking out six to pick up his ninth loss of the season. The 25-year-old hasn't been as bad as he was earlier in the year for Toronto, but he also hasn't been that great since returning from a demotion to the minor leagues. In six starts since returning to Toronto's starting rotation on July 7, Manoah has worked to a 4.91 ERA (5.07 FIP) with 17 walks and 31 strikeouts in 29 1/3 innings pitched. He's only made it past five innings once in that stretch, back in his first start back with the team on July 7.
