Alec Pierce 2025 Fantasy Football Outlook: Threatened Deep Threat
Alec Pierce has become arguably the league's purest deep threat. He was the WR43 in PPR formats with 37 catches for 824 yards and seven TDs, but he led the NFL with 33 deep targets, an aDOT of 21.7 yards, 11.9 yards per target, and 22.3 yards per reception. A large reason for Pierce's success was quarterback Anthony Richardson, who led the league in air yards per attempt last year. However, Richardson has struggled in Indianapolis, and the Colts brought in Daniel Jones to provide competition. Richardson is better suited to support Pierce's playstyle than Jones, but he is currently dealing with a concerning shoulder injury. Pierce may also struggle to expand his role given the presences of Josh Downs, Michael Pittman Jr., and Adonai Mitchell in Indy's receiving room. If Pierce averages just 4.3 targets again, he will not provide consistent fantasy production. With an ADP of WR71, the 25-year-old Pierce is going right where he should in fantasy drafts. He will be an unreliable boom or bust option each week, but with more booms if Richardson starts than if Jones does.
