Alec Bohm, Kody Clemens To Share 1B Playing Time
2 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies manager Rob Thomson said that infielder Kody Clemens will be the team's first baseman against right-handed pitchers with Darick Hall (thumb) unlikely to return until later this season due to a torn ligament in his thumb that requires surgery. Third baseman Alec Bohm could slide over to first base against left-handed pitchers, but Thomson said Bohm is "our third baseman." Edmundo Sosa and Josh Harrison could man the hot corner on days that Bohm shifts to first base. Clemens got the start at first on Friday against right-hander Hunter Greene and the Cincinnati Reds and hit eighth in the batting order. The 26-year-old hit just .145 with five homers and 17 RBI in 56 games in his first MLB season last year with the Detroit Tigers. Fantasy managers shouldn't expect much, but the uptick in playing time makes him worth a flier in deep-mixed and NL-only leagues.
