Aaron Nola to Start Triple-A Rehab Assignment July 31
Aaron Nola (ankle, rib) will start a rehab assignment with Triple-A Lehigh Valley on July 31. The plan is for Nola to throw 60 pitches in that game, Charlotte Varnes of The Athletic reports. It should be the first of three or four rehab starts for Nola, who has been out for over two months with multiple injuries. He originally went to the 15-day IL on May 15 with a sprained ankle before succumbing to a stress fracture in his right rib. Nola made nine starts earlier in the year and went a disastrous 1-7 with a 6.16 ERA over 49 2/3 innings. The former All-Star, 32, will have a chance to rebound as part of the Phillies' rotation if he gets through his rehab assignment without any setbacks.
