49ers Sign Bennie Fowler, Waive Marqise Lee
4 years agoThe San Francisco 49ers signed free-agent wide receiver Bennie Fowler to an undisclosed one-year deal on Friday. In a corresponding move, the Niners waived wide receiver Marqise Lee less than a week after signing him. Fowler has played for the Denver Broncos, New York Giants and New Orleans Saints in his seven years in the NFL. In total, he has 97 receptions for 1,101 yards and six touchdowns in 68 total games (12 starts). His best season came in 2017 with Denver, when he had 29 catches on 56 targets for 350 yards and three scores in 16 games (four starts). In five games with the Saints last year, Fowler had two catches for 11 yards in five games before landing on the Injured Reserve in late October. He will battle for a roster spot as receiver depth in training camp.
