49ers Likely To Part With Richard Sherman
4 years agoSan Francisco 49ers impending free-agent cornerback Richard Sherman said that "it's been made pretty clear" that the team doesn't plan on re-signing him this offseason. The 49ers have 30 unrestricted free agents and just over $13.1 million in salary cap space for the 2021 season, which factors into the decision to let the All-Pro defensive back walk. They are also looking to give top-of-the-market deals to left tackle Trent Williams and All-Pro linebacker Fred Warner. It's not a surprise to Sherman, who was limited to a career-low five games in 2020 due to a calf injury. He's had lingering issues with his lower leg since tearing his Achilles in 2017 and will turn 33 in March. The five-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro wants to play for two more years, but it'll have to be somewhere other than San Francisco.
