RotoBaller PGA Expert Roundtable

Wyndham Championship

The Expert Roundtable article is an attempt to get you inside the minds of our PGA DFS staff for every tournament.

Our four top golf writers - Joe Nicely, Spencer Aguiar, Josh Bennett, and Tommy Bell - will answer the same set of questions each week to give you an idea of how they are viewing the PGA DFS slate. Let's tee it up!

Who is your favorite DFS value play?

  • Joe Nicely: Christiaan Bezuidenhout ($7,700) & Henrik Norlander ($7,300)
  • Spencer Aguiar: Ryan Moore ($8,100), Kyle Stanley ($6,800), Christiaan Bezuidenhout ($7,700), Sepp Straka ($7,100)
  • Josh Bennett: Denny McCarthy (6,900)
  • Tommy Bell: Russell Henley ($7,700)

Who is your favorite DFS “high priced” play?

  • Joe Nicely: Webb Simpson ($11,200)
  • Spencer Aguiar: Patrick Reed ($10,700)
  • Josh Bennett: Webb Simpson (11,200)
  • Tommy Bell: Webb Simpson ($11,200)

Who is your top GPP play?

  • Joe Nicely: Si Woo Kim ($8,600)
  • Spencer Aguiar: Billy Horschel ($9,100)
  • Josh Bennett: Christiaan Bezuidenhout (7,700)
  • Tommy Bell: Luke List ($7,200)

Who is your top Cash-Game play?

  • Joe Nicely: Ryan Moore ($8,100)
  • Spencer Aguiar: Harris English ($9,300)
  • Josh Bennett: Justin Rose (9,900)
  • Tommy Bell: Harris English ($9,300)

Which popular golfer will you be “fading”?

  • Joe Nicely: Brendon Todd ($8,900)
  • Spencer Aguiar: Tommy Fleetwood ($10,500)
  • Josh Bennett: Brendon Todd (8,900)
  • Tommy Bell: Patrick Reed ($10,700)

What stands out as the most important stat for this golf course?

  • Joe Nicely: SG: Approach, Birdies Gained, Bermuda Putting Splits
  • Spencer Aguiar: Strokes Gained Approach, Par-Four Scoring (400-500 Yards)
  • Josh Bennett: SG: Approach
  • Tommy Bell: SG: Approach, Putting on Bermuda

Who is your favorite DFS “dart throw”?

  • Joe Nicely: Brice Garnett ($6,700) & Wesley Bryan ($6,600)
  • Spencer Aguiar: Pat Perez ($6,900)
  • Josh Bennett: Matthew Nesmith (6,400)
  • Tommy Bell: Wesley Bryan ($6,600)

What is your favorite bet of the week? (Any type)

  • Joe Nicely: Si Woo (33/1), Russell Henley (50/1), Dylan Frittelli (80/1)
  • Spencer Aguiar: Patrick Reed -115 over Tommy Fleetwood
  • Josh Bennett: Harold Varner III top 10 (+700)
  • Tommy Bell: Russell Henley (52/1)

Make a “bold prediction” for this week:

  • Joe Nicely: Tommy Fleetwood misses the cut
  • Spencer Aguiar: Harris English wins his first tournament in seven years.
  • Josh Bennett: Jordan Spieth is in the final group on Sunday
  • Tommy Bell: Patrick Reed and Jordan Spieth both miss the cut

Who is your favorite overall DFS golfer and why?

  • Joe Nicely: Harris English ($9,300) - I don’t love the expected ownership, but English heads to Sedgefield in terrific tee-to-green form. He’s been a top-25 machine, though we’ll need more from him at this DFS price and ownership.
  • Spencer Aguiar: Billy Horschel ($9,100) - Built-in safety for cash games at his $9,100 price tag, but Horschel possesses more upside than usual to potentially carve out a victory.
  • Josh Bennett: Paul Casey (10,300) - He's statistically (SG: Approach) the best iron player in the field. If he can putt decently he will be at the top of the leaderboard when the day is over on Sunday
  • Tommy Bell: Harris English ($9,300) - Upside/Floor combo for this price is unmatched. English should be able to find success all week long on a very get-able course with his preferred Bermuda greens. Recent form + Skillset = Big week for Harry.

What is your optimal DFS lineup building strategy?

  • Joe Nicely: Stars & Scrubs
  • Spencer Aguiar: Any build is fine by me.
  • Josh Bennett: stars and Scrubs
  • Tommy Bell: Plenty of ownership in the mid-to-high $7k range. Some Webb, and a lot of English

Who is your pick to win the tournament?

  • Joe Nicely: Jason Day (Ok, it really almost worked last week! Since my guy isn’t in the field, I have to go with Webb.)
  • Spencer Aguiar: Patrick Reed
  • Josh Bennett: Webb Simpson
  • Tommy Bell: Harris English
