MLB DFS: DraftKings, FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (8/28/24) - Today's Top Lineups

Mark Vientos - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, Draft Sleepers, Waiver Wire Pickups

The top MLB DFS daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel, DraftKings on August 28, 2024. Mike Barner's MLB DFS sleeper picks for building optimal DFS rosters.

Wednesday brings a loaded 16-game schedule in the majors. There are some early start times, which leaves eight games for the main evening slate on DraftKings and seven games for the main evening slate on FanDuel.

This article will provide my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 8/28/2024, with the slate starting at 7:10 p.m. EDT. The lineup picks will range from some elite players to mid-priced options and value plays.

You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports here. Monitoring injury news and today's MLB starting lineups is also essential. Good luck, RotoBallers!

DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Chris Sale at MIN ($11,000 DraftKings; $11,500 FanDuel)

Talk about being locked in. Sale has not given up more than two earned runs in a start since June 1. His 2.62 ERA for the season is backed by an even better 2.08 FIP. Even his 32.7% strikeout rate is two percentage points higher than his career mark. The Twins are not an easy matchup, but with how well Sale is pitching, he is still one of the top pitching options for this slate.

Joe Musgrove at STL ($8,800 DraftKings; $8,100 FanDuel)

Musgrove has given up one run across three starts since coming off the injured list. He worked his pitch count up to 75 in his last outing, which resulted in him throwing seven shutout innings and recording nine strikeouts against the Mets.

With the expectation that he surpasses 80 pitches in this outing, he’s an appealing option against a Cardinals team that has scored the seventh-fewest runs in baseball.

David Festa vs. ATL ($6,800 DraftKings; $7,700 FanDuel)

Festa doesn’t usually pitch deep into games. He hasn’t logged more than five innings or thrown more than 82 pitches in any of his eight outings. However, he has a 28.0% strikeout rate and has allowed three or fewer runs in six straight outings. That makes him a potential tournament option against the Braves, who have struck out the seventh-most times in baseball.

Also consider: Freddy Peralta vs. SF

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Gunnar Henderson – SS, BAL vs. Walker Buehler ($6,100 DK; $3,900 FD)

It has been a disastrous season for Buehler, who has a 6.09 ERA and a 6.17 FIP. He has allowed 11 home runs over 44.1 innings and seen his strikeout rate drop to a career-low 16.9%. This is a great spot for an Orioles stack with Henderson being the centerpiece of one. He has already hit 33 home runs on his way to a .263 ISO.

Mark Vientos – 1B/3B, NYM vs. Eduardo Rodriguez ($4,700 DK; $3,400 FD)

Vientos is having an excellent season with his .274 ISO and his .375 wOBA. He hits the ball hard, posting a 15.5% barrel rate and a 46.0% hard-hit rate. What makes him even more appealing for this matchup against Rodriguez is that Vientos has a .286 ISO and a .431 wOBA against left-handed pitchers.

Connor Norby – 2B/3B, MIA vs. Kyle Freeland ($3,900 DK; $3,200 FD)

While Norby didn’t immediately join the Marlins after being acquired from the Orioles, he has finally made his way back to the majors. He has shown why he is so highly thought of, hitting 11-for-32 (.344) with two home runs and five doubles over his last eight games. A game at Coors Field against Freeland and his 1.49 WHIP might be too good to pass up.

Also consider: Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Jake Burger, Spencer Horwitz

DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Anthony Santander – OF, BAL vs. Walker Buehler ($5,300 DK; $3,600 FD)

With Buehler allowing so many home runs, Santander is another member of the Orioles to target. Not only does he have 38 home runs and a .284 ISO, but his strikeout rate is only 19.5%. Another stat working in Santander’s favor is that he has a .310 ISO and a .359 wOBA on the road this season.

Jackson Merrill – OF, SD vs. Andre Pallante ($4,700 DK; $3,300 FD)

There has been no slowing down Merrill, who is 25-for-73 (.342) with six home runs, three triples, and three doubles across his last 19 games. For a player who made the jump straight from Double-A to the majors, he certainly hasn’t been overmatched based on his 17.9% strikeout rate. Another juicy stat line could be coming against Pallante, who has a 1.41 WHIP at home this season.

J.D. Martinez – OF, NYM vs. Eduardo Rodriguez ($4,400 DK; $3,200 FD)

Martinez isn’t the player that he was during his prime, but he can still mash left-handed pitchers. While right-handed pitchers have limited him to a .169 ISO and a .315 wOBA this year, he has a .240 ISO and a .401 wOBA versus lefties. That’s pretty close to his career .274 ISO and .397 wOBA versus southpaws.

Also consider: Jarren Duran, Colton Cowser, Luis Robert Jr.
