BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 54% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: The main storylines coming out of Detroit this past weekend were related to actual skill-position players and not to QB Jared Goff: RB D'Andre Swift returned after we last saw him in Week 3 and WR Amon-Ra St. Brown finally completed a game after only playing part-time snaps in W5 and W7. That doesn't mean the best fantasy news had to do with those two instead of Goff, though.
Goff is coming off another borderline QB1-level outing this past Sunday. The veteran QB went to bed with the 13th-best FP tally (18.6) of the week pending MNF. He reached that mark thanks to completing a season-high 27 passes on 37 attempts for 321 yards and a touchdown, avoiding getting picked for the first time since Week 2.
The truth is that Goff was so good that he even rushed the rock for three yards... and caught his lone target on the day for five more! Jokes aside, Goff has been a reasonable quarterback for those in deeper leagues and a must-roster option in 2QB/Superflex formats this season.
Goff has the 14th-most FP among QBs through Week 8 having gone on a bye already and with just seven games played. As many as six of the 13 players ahead of him have played one fewer game through Monday (Cincy faces Cleveland on MNF).
On a per-game basis, Goff's 17.1 FPPG ranks 11th among QBs with more than two starts. I'm not going to say Goff is a must-target player for fantasy GMs in 12-team leagues because of his week-to-week volatility (the third-highest among those in that top-12 group) but he should be someone to start weekly in any deeper format, let alone 2QB leagues.
