Jamaal Williams is a fantasy football waiver wire pickup option for running backs. Target him as a free agent add off waivers for Week 13 of the 2021 NFL season.

ANALYSIS: The Lions, somehow, have been able to not win a game 12 weeks into the season. Not a very good stat, but it's not that this team has many truly threatening weapons out there on the gridiron on a weekly basis. And even if you think they do, as in running back D'Andre Swift, they had to play against Chicago without the tailback as he stayed on the sidelines injured after just appearing on 10 snaps. Backing him up on Thanksgiving was the 2021 free-agency acquisition, Jamaal Williams.
Jamaal has been super limited in terms of playing time most of this season. Barring his 49% snap share back in Week 3, he had never reached a percentage of snaps played higher than 39% all year long. Then, he racked up 31 plays for a season-high 63% snap share this past Thursday. He didn't reach the levels of play he showed in Week 3 (and Week 1, for that matter, when he posted a 25-PPR tally) but he was good enough for a top-20 finish at the position--or an RB2, that is.
Williams rushed the rock 15 times in Swift's absence for 65 yards on the ground while grabbing all 5 targets he was thrown. Those 5 receptions turned into a bonus of 18 yards for Williams, whose 83 yards from scrimmage were the second-most he's put up in a single game this season, and the largest mark since all the way back to W1. Williams is obviously going to be tied to Swift's health ROS, but if he can take on the RB1 role in the latter's absence then you know he should at least be good for RB2/RB3 numbers weekly.
