BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 16% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: I know what you're thinking. "Why is this guy telling me to add a tight end from a team boasting the best trio of WRs in the whole NFL?" Well, there is a very simple reason, and that reason is precisely based on that thought: the Bengals are as chalky as they come, and all main offensive players are getting as many snaps as they can handle without any sort of volatility to those counts.
Just this past Sunday, the Bengals trio of receivers logged 57, 61, and 66 snaps each. Joe Mixon got 52 snaps in the backfield. Hayden Hurst got 56 at the TE position. No other player from any of those units got more than 18 compared to those go-to options. You know what you're getting in Hurst in terms of playing time, and even more, if one of the main receivers of Cincy goes down then Hurst is probably going to step up into that vacant role and get more opportunities than anyone else would.
Hurst, mind you, has not been atrocious in the first two weeks of the season. He's posted scores of 9.6 and 7.4 PPR points in the past two games, and while that is nothing great it is also true that those points amounted to TE13 and TE18 finishes. Hurst's most appealing stats are his targets, eight and seven in back-to-back games.
Hurst has grabbed five targets in each of his two games to date but has yet to score a touchdown. He racked up 46 yards in W1 but could only get 24 last Sunday facing Dallas away from home. The production isn't quite there yet, but the snaps – and most of all, the targets – can't get much higher so we have to assume some positive regression is going to come to Hurst soon.
Fantastic ROS tight end to add via WW if you punted the position in your draft, and an even better addition if someone in the Bengals offense gets injured at some point. The upside is for a TE1 finish if he can make the most of his chances.
