How to Play Fantasy Premier League Guide

Whether it's your first, second, or 20th season playing Fantasy Premier League, don't miss our 'How to Play Fantasy Premier League' Guide for the 2025-26 season. It covers squad building, transfers, and all the new strategies coming to this great game for the upcoming campaign.

Best Captains for Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 6

Each gameweek, Euan, Jamie, and Wale will provide their best Captaincy pick for the upcoming gameweek in the 2025-26 Fantasy Premier League season.

Wale (The FPL Manual): It’s a no-brainer, my captain of the week is Erling Braut Haaland, and he is favored with the Triple captain armband. For the first time this season, I can feel comfortable not going up against Haaland, who has been scoring for fun this season. Pheww!

The Norwegian international has scored 12 goals in eight matches across all competitions and will be facing newly-promoted Burnley. Haaland loves scoring against promoted teams, especially at the Etihad Stadium, and I’m anticipating a hat-trick from the big man.

Jamie: Haaland (£14.3m) is the clear and obvious choice this week. The Norwegian scored his sixth goal in five games at the weekend and is the leading points scorer in FPL this season. At home to Burnley is too good a fixture to ignore.

Euan: 3-1, 6-0, 2-0, 5-0, 5-0, 5-0, 5-0, 4-1, 3-0. Those are the results of Burnley's last nine trips to Man City. Several FPL managers will activate the Triple Captain chip this weekend, so you almost have to give the armband to Erling Haaland to protect yourself from potential devastation.

Differential Captains for Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 6

Everyone loves to get a little different with the Captaincy picks once in a while. Every matchweek, our FPL analysts provide their favorite outside shots for a huge haul.

Wale: Is Graham Potter still in charge of West Ham? Yes? Alright. With the Hammers traveling away to face Everton at home, it is only fair to recommend one of their top scorers, Iliman Ndiaye (£6.5m)

Ndiaye has been electric for the Toffees, contributing three attacking returns in the opening five matches, and with West Ham's defensive woes, he could easily reach double digits alongside Jack Grealish’s creativity on the left flank. He is a promising differential captain to consider for Gameweek 6.

Jamie: Although the sensible option for the armband is Haaland, I’m actually going a different route this week. Grealish (£6.8m) has four assists and now draws a home game against the worst defense in the league.

Everton’s kept a clean sheet in both of their home games so far, and it wouldn’t come as a surprise if he hit the midfield trifecta this week: a goal, an assist, and a clean sheet.

Euan: Bruno Fernandes is tied for the 12th-most points among FPL midfielders this season, but it doesn't tell the whole story. The Portuguese star has 3.72 xGI (expected Goal Involvement,s) and that trails only Haaland in the Premier League.

Brentford has been fairly up and down this season, but I reckon they'll be on the attack when the Red Devils visit in the early kick-off. This will provide Bruno plenty of chances to bring down the Bees' backline and play provider for his teammates. Plus, he never comes off the field and remains on penalties this season.

Low-Picked Players for Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 6

Going with the herd can sometimes get boring. From Gameweek 1 to Gameweek 38, Wale, Jamie, and Euan will reveal their favorite FPL player, picked in fewer than 5 percent of Fantasy Premier League teams.

Wale: Spurs' new signing Xavi Simons (£7.1m) received high praise for his latest performance against Brighton, where Tottenham fought for a point. Despite only playing 30 minutes from the bench, his impact was surreal, and he appears to be the ideal James Maddison replacement that Tottenham has long sought.

With only 3.7% ownership and a favorable home matchup against the bottom-of-the-table Wolves, Simons could be the ultimate differential to add a boost to our ranks and could be worth the risk despite Thomas Frank's likely rotations.

Jamie: Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (£5.0m) was someone I was high on coming into the season. However, the FPL community is getting on board, with his ownership touching 5%. So I’m opting for his midfield partner, James Garner (£5.0m).

Garner has been sharing set-piece duties with Dewsbury-Hall. If there’s one thing (among many) West Ham really struggles with, it’s defending set-pieces. Seven of the 13 goals the Hammers have shipped in came from set-pieces. Garner is currently on 0.6% of FPL teams and is in a prime spot for a solid return.

Euan: On Tuesday morning, Noni Madueke (knee) was ruled out for two months. While it's unfortunate for the England international, it gives his teammate, Bukayo Saka, a clear path to playing time until Christmas without the fear of rotation.

As of this writing, Saka is in 3.8 percent of FPL teams, and I expect that to rise by the Gameweek 6 deadline. A tough test against Newcastle is on the cards, but the 24-year-old has shown us time and time again that he has the keys to unlocking any defense.
