Week 15 Running Back Rankings Outlooks
TreVeyon Henderson, New England Patriots
New England Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson's ascension into the lead-back role has come at the perfect time, as he continues to face off against a string of below-average run defenses. This week, Henderson's Patriots take on the Buffalo Bills, who have allowed the most rushing touchdowns, sixth-most rushing yards, and sixth-most fantasy points to opposing running backs in 2025. The rookie has fared quite well since replacing Rhamondre Stevenson atop the depth chart.
Even in Stevenson's two games since returning from injury, Henderson has totaled 35 touches, 133 rushing yards, and 34 receiving yards. He has double-digit fantasy points (PPR) in each of his last five games, and against a Bills defense that has allowed 18 touchdowns this year, Henderson has a good shot at breaking his two-game streak without a trip to the end zone. He continues to rank as a low-end RB1 for Week 15 against Buffalo.
Rico Dowdle, Carolina Panthers
Carolina Panthers running back Rico Dowdle was outproduced by Chuba Hubbard in last week's upset win over the Los Angeles Rams, as Hubbard finished with 17 carries for 83 yards while also catching two passes for 41 yards and a touchdown.
Dowdle had 18 rushing attempts for 58 yards and added two receptions for 21 yards. It was the first time the Panthers had two RBs each record at least 75 scrimmage yards in a game since Dec. 24 of 2022. "And for Rico, you know, giving him the lion's share of some of those first and second down, those early series and all that is a great way to just get him the ball," head coach Dave Canales said.
With Hubbard getting his legs back under him after missing some time with injury, the Panthers appear to be reaching a more effective, balanced approach between the two RBs, with Dowdle becoming the early-down back, and Hubbard working more on passing downs.
Omarion Hampton, Los Angeles Chargers
Los Angeles Chargers rookie running back Omarion Hampton returned from IR last week after missing seven games with a fractured ankle. He carried the ball 13 times for 56 yards (4.3 YPC) and scored a receiving touchdown in the team's overtime win against the Philadelphia Eagles. The carries were split almost evenly between Kimani Vidal, and it's uncertain if this division will continue or if the Chargers are still gradually reintegrating Hampton into his starting role.
OC Greg Roman recently said he prefers a hot-hand approach, but right now is "seeing two guys with the hot hand," which is "a good problem to have." Hampton faces the Kansas City Chiefs, who are among the top teams in rushing yards allowed. Chiefs DC Steve Spagnuolo will aim to shut down the run and force the injured Justin Herbert to pass.
Considering Herbert's recent limitations and the team's reliance on the ground game, Hampton will be a crucial part of the offense. RotoBaller ranks him as RB27 this week. Hampton is a strong, albeit volume-limited, high-end RB3 with touchdown potential in a run-heavy game plan.
