Fantasy Basketball Night In Review: Monday, November 22

Antonio Losada looks back at yesterday's slate of games (11/22/21) and comments on fantasy basketball risers, fallers and takeaways from the games played.

Welcome to the RotoBaller NBA Recap. In this feature, we will highlight a few key fantasy basketball takeaways from the games played during last night's slate. These viewpoints can be both positive and negative and will hopefully help to provide insight into different roster moves you should consider making based on trends and statistical nuggets from around the Association.

Fantasy basketball has a lot of moving pieces with all the different scoring settings that are possible to play under, so I will always do my best to spotlight where players gain or lose value in certain game types. For the sake of simplicity and consistency, every time I mention Fantasy Points in these articles I will be using DraftKings' scoring system, which goes as follows: 1*PTS, 0.5*3PM, 1.25*RBD, 1.5*AST, 2*STL, 2*BLK, -0.5*TO. On top of that, bonus points are awarded for Double-Doubles (+1.5) and Triple-Doubles (+3), only one per player at a time.

Without further ado, let's get right into the latest slate of games from the 2021 season and try to figure out how to take advantage of what we saw transpire.

Brooklyn takes full possession of the East no. 1 seed while Boston welcomes Jaylen Brown back and hands Houston its 15th consecutive loss

The Bulls surprisingly lost to Indiana, and that meant that a victory from Brooklyn over Cleveland would give the black and white a one-game separation at the top of the Eastern Conference. And that's precisely what happened on Monday, as the Nets were led by a returning Kevin Durant that lit CLE up for 27 pops, 6 boards, 9 dimes, and 3 blocks on a night in which he went 10-for-10 on freebies and 42.1% on his 19 FGA. James Harden himself added a nice 14-14 on points and dimes to go with 6 boards and 3 steals.

Boston got its third W in a row welcoming Jay-B back in a night in which he was limited to only 23 minutes but still dropped a 19-3-0-1-1 with 4-for-4 free throws made. Houston can't catch a break these days and with barely a month of competition, the Rockets should be already putting some heavy money on their scouting department to get the best possible prospect come Draft Day 2022.

  • LaMelo Ball is delightful. He can do it all. And he proved so yesterday putting up the only 60+ DKFP performance in DK's slate of games to the tune of 62 FP translated from a 28-13-7-3-11 all-across-the-board contribution in a game that had the Hornets edging Washington by fewer than 10 points. Harrell led Washinton from the pine (just 27 minutes) but the top-12 performance and 24-18 (!) ridiculous dub-dub weren't enough for the Wiz to get away with a W.
  • Been telling you for a while already: Dejounte Murray is the next superstar the Association will grace. Or is already gracing. Another triple-double for the young Spur who dumped an 18-10-11-3-1 game on Phoenix. Of course, the Suns don't know how to lose a game so DM had con be happy with the multi-triple-digit outing while eating the L.
  • Somehow Andre Drummond got back to his good ways and finished as a top-6 play... missing on dub-dubbing by just a single point (he scored 3-of-6 freebies, now get mad at him) after reaching a 9-23-3-1-3 do-it-all line. Rudy Gobert bested him by half a fantasy point, but the French had a very spicy 23-13 dub-dub with 5 (!) blocks to go, the latter mark only tied by Atlanta Hawks' John Collins on Monday.
  • The Rockets suck and that makes all of the sense considering their most valuable player was off-the-pine guy Armoni Brooks, one of only two Houston players (along with Kenyon Martin Jr.) to drop double-digit points against Boston. Brooks finished the day with 17 points (15 of them on 5 treys, 2 on free throws) to go with 3 boards, 2 dimes, and 3 steals.
  • A couple of out-of-the-blue dub-dubs by Jeremiah Robinson-Earl (13-10-1-1-1) who I highlighted in my deep-league WW targets column yesterday, and Willy Hernangomez (19-11 with a steal) playing 23 minutes off the pine for the Pels. Similar double-digit outing for another of my deep-league WW targets in Jarred Vanderbilt with a 16-11-1-2 in 25 minutes starting as the Wolves PF.
  • Josh Giddey is not the cheapest/most-available of players out there after his great start to the year, but he keeps pulling miracles off such as yesterday's spicy 15-7-8-1-2 game against Atlanta in the second-best game of his rookie season to date.
  • Disappointing games by Chicago leaders Zach LaVine (17-2-3) and DeMar DeRozan (18-1-2) which pretty much explain why the Bulls couldn't top Indy on Monday.
  • Miles Bridges logged a ridiculous 42 minutes of playing time, played along with the best player of the slate in LaMelo, yet all Miles could do was burn the bridge toward his low 16 DKFP by the way of a 6-5-2-1 line and putrid 23.1% shooting day.
  • Philly missed Seth Curry, Tobias Harris, Danny Green, and Joel Embiid yesterday but all of them with the exception of JoJo should be back tomorrow... Darius Garland was hit in the face and had to leave the game but ultimately came back and was the best player of the Cavs... Scares by Richaun Holmes and Marcus Smart, though both are going to get the Questionable tag entering Wednesday's slate of games.
