FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Lineup Picks (9/21/16): MLB DFS Advice

Welcome to our Wednesday edition of FanDuel picks on Rotoballer. We have another full slate as playoff races are coming down to the wire, with first pitch at 3:10 ET. There are three games in the early-slate, so for this edition I will focus on the main slate and sprinkle in early options.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball MLB lineup picks for FanDuel on 9/21/16. As for Vegas insights, there are a lot of heavy favorites including the Cubs (-240), Mets (-195), Nationals (-190), Indians (-190), and Angels (-185). The pitchers involved in those games are John Lackey, Bartolo Colon, Max Scherzer, Corey Kluber and Derek Holland, respectively. Highest over/under is Cardinals-Rockies (12.5) followed by Angels-Rangers and Red Sox-Orioles (10).

Editor's Note: Purchase a full season NFL Premium Pass (including DFS Premium), and also get MLB Premium + DFS for free through the playoffs. Premium DFS research, lineup picks, expert lineups, tools and more. You can see screenshots of our NFL Premium and MLB Premium and DFS tools. What are you waiting for?

DFS Lineup Stacks to Target for FanDuel

Orioles versus Clay Buchholz

Aside from a surprising August, Buchholz has been a disappointment for the playoff-bound Red Sox. He has a 5.17 ERA in September and has a 5.10 ERA at Camden Yards in 10 career starts. Look for the Orioles to salvage this important series to stay within arms reach in the AL East race.

Mets versus Ryan Weber

The Braves are in next man up mode, with an injury to John Gant allowing Weber to take his turn in the rotation. Weber has a solid 20/3 K/BB as a reliever but it comes with a 5.46 ERA. It's likely he doesn't eclipse five innings, forcing Atlanta to a bullpen game. The Mets need this game to avoid being swept at home and I expect them to bring their A-game in the finale.

Also Consider: Cardinals versus German Marquez

DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider for FanDuel

Chris Sale (SP, CWS) - 11,000

As tempting as Corey Kluber is, this matchup should be criminal. Sale has been on fire, going eight innings in six straight starts with 58 strikeouts in that span. Versus a Phillies lineup that struggles versus LHP, Sale is a lock for 50 points with the potential for 70.

Bartolo Colon (SP, NYM) - $7,800

Colon, at age 43, is a certified alien. He's 6-0 with a 2.29 ERA in his past six starts and while the Braves are one of the hottest teams in the second half, this is a must win for the Mets. Aside from Freddie Freeman, he should have success tonight.

DFS Infielders to Consider for FanDuel

Catcher (C) - Francisco Cervelli (C, PIT) - $2,900

Cervelli has been one of the better catchers lately, working on a five-game hitting streak entering Wednesday. Jimmy Nelson has been struggling and Cervelli is posting a .417 OPS in the his last 19 AB, making him a safe floor for an affordable rate.

First Base (1B) - Freddie Freeman (1B, ATL) - $3,900

Freeman has quietly put together an MVP-worthy season for the Braves and has a great matchup tonight. Freeman is hitting .467 in 30 career at-bats versus Colon and is hitting .474 in his last 19 at-bats.

Second Base (2B) - Jean Segura (2B, ARI) - $3,600

Segura has been on absolute fire. He is hitting .484 with five home runs and eight RBI in his last 33 at-bats and gets an easy matchup with Luis Perdomo tonight.

Shortstop (SS) - Jose Peraza (SS, CIN) - $3,000

Peraza continues to impress and has secured the leadoff spot for the rest of 2016. He's hitting .322 in his past four games and is a great source of speed and runs.

Third Base (3B) - Jose Reyes (3B, NYM) - $2,700

If you choose to ride Ryon Healy, I don't blame you, but if you need to save money I like the leadoff man in Queens. Reyes is showing there's pop left in the bat with a triple and HR and in his last three games and it should be a high scoring affair for the Mets today.

DFS Outfielders to Consider for FanDuel

Jackie Bradley Jr. (OF, BOS) - $3,600

JBJ is finishing strong, hitting four home runs in September including one last night.

Ender Inciarte (OF, ATL) - $2,900

Since taking over the leadoff spot in August, Inciarte has hit .351 to help raise his average to .297 in 2016, further piercing the dagger in the Diamondback's heart. He's way too low to pass up and should see run-scoring opportunities ahead of Freeman.

Kike Hernandez (OF, LAD) - $2,300

Need a punt? Check out Kike if he gets the start tonight. He's had a rough 2016 but he has 5 HR in 106 at-bats versus LHP this season including a two-run blast on Sunday. If he doesn't start, pay a little more for Puig.

Also Consider: Ian Desmond (OF, TEX) - $3,900 and Yasiel Puig (OF, LAD) - $2,500
