Favorite Targets Early On Monday

Robert MacIntyre ($8K)

It doesn't always work, so I don't want to make promises about a sport known to be volatile, but I do pride myself on my model's ability to find outlier answers about playability past the point of popularity that we will see from the public.

If you follow my content regularly, you might know that I have only bet on Robert MacIntyre to win a tournament three other times in my career. Two of the results were good, highlighted by his takedown of the Scottish Open last season and sixth-place finish at the WM Phoenix Open this season. The other resulted in a missed cut at the Farmers Insurance Open in 2024.

When I examine these situations and seek against-the-grain viewpoints, I examine how often a golfer grades out as a high-end value or a total pass. I do this to see how much of this projection is against the norm of what I produce weekly on that specific golfer.

Here is MacIntyre's ranks this season within my model: I also included the 2024 Scottish Open.

What intrigues me most is that my model has graded him in the top 15 four times, including the 2024 Scottish Open, with three of those results within that same range. You are going to have to get access to my model to find out just how highly he graded for me this week at the Masters, but I do want to note that Augusta National's left-handed bias presents a very optimistic outlook for the Scottish golfer.

Brooks Koepka ($9.4K)

As an industry, we have gone through so many ebbs and flows regarding Brooks Koepka. I remember when he captured his fifth major at the 2023 PGA Championship and seeing everyone talk about how Koepka was a surefire lock to get to 10+ majors before the end of his career.

I may have been too strong of a detractor on the other end since I often landed on the aisle of it being a realistic chance that five majors might be where his career ultimately stops, because I never quite trusted the data. However, there is likely a middle ground somewhere in there regarding my negative takes and the public's opinion of him from a few years back.

Since Koepka's win in 2023, we have seen six straight majors of him failing to post a result inside the top 15 of a grand slam event. A lot of that can likely be chalked up to an off year for him in 2024 that saw him land between 26th and 45th all four times.

Nonetheless, I don't think it is inconceivable to say that the Masters is the perfect opportunity for him to break out of his slump when we dive into a venue that accentuates his combination of long-iron prowess and short-game mastery.

Those factors are brought to the forefront of the discussion in Koepka's recent profile, with many of the metrics he has generated over the last two years of frustration popping up for him as a positive when conforming the data to fit Augusta National.

My model ranked Koepka a very impressive first in Weighted Strokes Gained Total, second when combining Distance + Long Iron + Aggression, and four additional returns within the top 10, including all of the key Par-Saving answers from within my model.

None of that guarantees that Koepka is fully back because the failure to see him week in and week out is a deterrent to any steady expectations, although that likely brings with it a lower DFS ownership that can deliver high-end results if the industry decides to move away from their take on him from past seasons.

That is a gamble I am willing to take.

Keegan Bradley ($7K), Maverick McNealy ($7.1K), Sungjae Im ($7.3K), Max Greyserman ($6.6K)

There are many names that we could talk about for this final selection. Russell Henley, Min Woo Lee, and Patrick Reed all come to mind, but I wanted to find someone a little further off the radar to discuss since most of my content this week will revolve around the options listed above.

When I ran my model to feature the best pure values on the board when comparing DraftKings price to my overall rank, here were the top five options on the board:

You will notice that Keegan Bradley suffers from a negative trajectory for upside, which does hurt some of this conversation and boost names such as Sungjae Im, Max Greyserman, and Maverick McNealy more toward the top of my list when I run the data to fit more of a boom-or-bust nature. However, McNealy, Greyserman, Im, and Bradley all cracked the top 43 of all seven categories I ran.

If you are looking for safety, Bradley is my answer. If you are looking for pure upside that will provide very little floor, I like the metrics for McNealy and Im. Greyserman is more of an ownership-dependent route.
