Favorite Plays

Maverick McNealy ($8,000)

I posted this message on Twitter while discussing the top of the board at the Scottish Open:

What you won't see from that return is a massive discrepancy against the market in any sector this week. However, a retrieval of that nature can sometimes be just as valuable since it starts to highlight a board that favors the top of the slate.

I am not going to sit here and try to tell you all the reasons golfers like Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Xander Schauffele, or even Tommy Fleetwood/Robert Macintyre make sense, but what I will try to do is highlight the lowest-priced option of those 11 in a choice like Maverick McNealy.

My model ranked McNealy eighth in this field for Weighted SG: Total, which includes cracking the top 11 when purely looking at this course as a drive-and-putt contest. In fairness, the Renaissance Club has a much more substantial impact on the data than just those totals. Still, I hope that the American will become a forgotten commodity after a slower handful of months on tour. If that is the case, his $8,000 price tag plays nicely as a legit top 15 sort of golfer in this field.

Handful Of Options $7,200 (Or Less)

We will see how many of these options end up making my player pool, but I wanted to highlight the nine names that graded as a positive value compared to their price in my model, cracked the top 50 of my overall sheet, AND resulted in positive early sharp movement in the space when considering DFS names at $7,200 or less. 

We will dive deeper into those options throughout the week, but consider all of these early front-runners before we determine what the weather will do over the next 48+ hours. As is always the case in Europe, weather matters!
