DraftKings, FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (8/01/23): Today's Top MLB DFS Lineups

zac gallen fantasy baseball rankings draft sleepers MLB injury news

The top daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel and DraftKings on August 1, 2023. Dawn Tepper's MLB DFS analysis and sleepers for building optimal DFS rosters.

Another Tuesday slate, another 14 games to break down! Happy Tuesday, RotoBallers. It's MLB Trade Deadline Day, so we are in for a flurry of activity, and I don't know about you, but I am here for it! Hitters and pitchers still in play include Michael LorenzenJack FlahertyRich Hill,  Logan GilbertMitch Keller, Dylan Cease, and Brady Singer (and they could be on the move as we speak and somewhere else by the time you read this article).

I'll cover the 14-game slate starting at 7:05 pm in this article. We have three pitchers with an over 25% K rate and four teams with bats with an over 24% K rate. Three out of four of those teams have an over 100 wRC+, good matchups regardless of their strikeout rate.

This article will provide my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 8/01/2023 and the slate locking at 7:05 pm ET. The lineup picks will range from some elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports here. Monitoring injury news and today's MLB starting lineups is also essential. Now that we got all that out of the way, it's onto the picks! DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Spencer Strider, ATL vs. LAA ($DK, $FD)

Strider is 11 and three for the season, with a 3.73 ERA. He is two and one in the last five games, with a 3.73 ERA. He'll be facing the Los Angeles Angels, who are slashing .254/.331/.451 versus righties but without Shohei Ohtani in the lineup, that line goes down to .233/.307/.391. Without Mickey Moniak, that line is .243/.312/.407

Moniak and Ohtani and the only two Halos in over 50 games with an OPS over 1.0 versus right-handed pitchers. Strider will have to work against these two, especially Moniak, who is slashing .343/.373/.639 versus righties but versus the Angels as a team, I'll be expecting a win tonight in Atlanta.

Zach Eflin, TB at NYY ($DK, $FD)

Eflin will be facing the Yankees tonight in the Bronx, where the Bombers are ten games back and last in the AL East. Versus right-handed pitchers, the Yankees are batting just .229/.298/.397 and, for the season, are .236/.314/.374 with runners in scoring position.

In Eflin's last game against the Yank's this season, he got the win and struck out nine. After leaving last week's game against the Marlins with some left knee discomfort, tonight's start was in question. After a clear MRI, a successful 25-pitch bullpen session, and another three days of recovery, he is ready to go, and I'll be looking for another win in New York tonight.

Also consider: Zac Gallen, Kyle Bradish, Justin Steele

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Yandy Diaz - 1B, TOR vs. Carlos Rodon ($4,500 DK, $3,300 FD)

Diaz has been incredibly consistent this season, with a .318/.401/.503 slash line and .333/.421/.467 for the last five games. He is batting .333/.400/.561 for the season versus left-handed pitchers. Rodon has a 5.75 ERA and has lost his last three of four games. Versus left-handed hitters, he has a 7.36 ERA with a 7.09 FIP and 6.20 xFIP. Yandy Diaz will be a vital contributor tonight in the Bronx, where I expect Rodon to struggle against a Tampa Bay team with a 119 wrC+ versus left-handed pitching this season.

Ryan Mountcastle - 1B, BAL vs. Hyun Jin Ryu ($3,600 DK, $3,000 FD)

Mountcastle will be facing lefty Hyun Jin Ryu in Toronto tonight. The right-hander is slashing .400/.474/.733 in his last five games, and in 46 games versus left-handed pitchers, he is batting .319/.356/.659. Ryu will be making his first start since June 1, 2022, when he left his start against the Chicago White Sox after four innings. Surgery on his elbow 17 days later took him out for the rest of the season. The Birds should be ready to go tonight versus Ryu and notch another win this evening in Toronto.

Sean Murphy - C, ATL vs. Patrick Sandoval ($5,500 DK, $3,600 FD)

Righty Murphy and the Braves face left-handed pitcher Sandoval tonight at Truist Park. Murphy has been in a bit of a rut his last five games, going .111/.238/.111 but he is .278/.376/.533 for the season, and in 34 games versus lefty pitchers, he is .328/.426/.569. Positive regression, anyone? I expect him to turn things around versus the lefty Sandoval tonight and for him and the Braves to get the win at home.

DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Mickey Moniak, OF, LAA vs. Spencer Strider ($5,400 DK, $3,300 FD)

As discussed above, Moniak has one of the hottest bats on the Angels versus right-handed pitchers. He is slashing .343/.373/.639 versus righties with 11 home runs and 33 RBI. Strider will be a challenge for Moniak and the Halos, but Moniak's numbers against right-handed pitchers, along with batting .340/.377/.600 on the road, will prove to be challenging for Strider and the Braves. I'll look forward to this duel tonight in Atlanta and expect Moniak to deliver for the Angels.

Brandon Nimmo, OF, NYM vs. Zach Greinke ($4,600 DK, $3,300 FD)

Nimmo and the NY Mets will face Greinke tonight in hitter-friendly Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City. Greinke has a 15% strikeout rate; the Mets have a 20% K rate versus right-handed pitchers. The Mets have a 116 wRC+ for the season, 109 versus righties. For the season, Nimmo has a .256/.353/.431 slash line with 15 home runs and 47 RBI. Versus righties, he has 15 home runs and 36 RBI. I'll look for another homer versus Greinke on the road tonight in Kansas City.

Ronald Acuña Jr. - OF, ATL vs. Patrick Sandoval ($DK, $FD)

This might seem like an obvious pick, but this is a "don't overthink it" spot. Acuna is slashing .438/.591/.625 in his last five games, .333/.415/.573 for the season. Atlanta is batting .279/.345/.516 at home and versus left-handed pitchers are .290/.348/.532. The Braves have a 125 wRC+ for the season, 135 versus lefties. Don't overthink this one; lock in Acuna tonight versus Sandoval.

DraftKings, FanDuel MLB DFS Stacks

1. Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Ken Waldichuk

LA Dodgers Bats Versus Left-Handed Pitchers

LA Dodgers Bats Versus Left-Handed Pitchers

The Dodgers are facing lefty Waldichuk, and the Dodgers are going to feast. Their slash line versus lefties is just above their line for the season at .252/.337/452. As you can see in the table above, there are six Dodgers with an over .900 OPS, five over 1.00, and 26 combined home runs.

Waldichuk has two wins and four losses on the road, with a 7.69 ERA, and is allowing a .300/.392/.500 slash line versus right-handed batters. He has a 19.9% K rate and will face a Dodgers team with a 124 wRC+, 111 versus right-handed pitchers. The Dodgers are one of my top stacks tonight (another "don't overthink it" spot!).

Favorite Plays: Jake Marisnick, Kike Hernandez, Freddie Freeman,

2. Atlanta Braves vs. Pedro Sandoval

Favorite Plays: Orlando Arcia, Eddie Rosario, Kevin Pillar

3. Tampa Bay vs. Carlos Rodon

Favorite Plays: Christian Bethancourt, Manual Margot, Greg Jones
