BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 55% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: Considering Darnell Mooney has had to endure a quarterback that is just coming off his second game with 14+ completions and 22+ passing attempts, well, it's not that you can ask Mooney to do much more than he's done to date.
Mooney is, the same as QB Justin Fields, coming off a TNF affair with Washinton in which he was good to put up his higher PPR score of the year so far with 13.8 FP. This performance was boosted by his season-high 66 snaps, of course, but the most interesting thing was seeing him getting 12 targets (prior high this season at just six) of which he hauled in seven for 68 yards.
While Mooney has not yet scored a single touchdown for the Bears this year, he and the rest of the team is getting better as they're getting more and more reps. It's happening to the quarterback, and it's happening to a receiving corps that is also getting healthier as the season advances.
Mooney scored fewer than 5.0 PPR points in each of the first three games of the year but has since put up 13.4, 7.2, and lastly 13.8. The targets are going to stay on the concerning side of things not because of teammate competition, but actually because of Justin Fields' low-volume passing.
Even if Fields doesn't raise the bar that much more, Mooney is still the Bears' go-to WR1 and he should keep commanding the most targets and getting the largest piece of the receiving pie. He is definitely worth rostering and starting as a weekly Flex with upside for WR3/WR2 on a good day.
