Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox - Yesterday's Recap

Welcome to the April 6th edition of Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox.

Discussing baseball is as fun as the game itself. It has a way of bringing people together to share different opinions about the sport we all love. A similar action can be done with fantasy baseball where we not only discuss topics but also look to improve our teams as well as the teams of our fellow fantasy baseball enthusiasts. Everyone has their own perspectives which are not to be cast off as frivolous. They should be used as a method of expanding our own knowledge.

In this article, I review the previous day's boxscores and provide my opinion on a variety of topics. Some will be random, some will be fun, and some will be stat-driven. It's a soapbox so I may rant from time to time as well. So without any further delay, below are my thoughts on the April 5th games. Enjoy them. You can even respond with your own thoughts on Twitter @EllisCan2.

Daily Musings

  • Unleashed! Finally on the field, Nelson Cruz serves up two tickets to paradise (116.6 & 114.6 mph). Contract w/ Father Time continues.
  • Akil Baddoo wastes little time ordering a combo meal at none other than Chick-Fil-A. (second HR, first SB). It's the sauce.
  • My Man! Jordan Montgomery knocks the O's off that high horse (6 IP, 7 K). Stud!!
  • The morning fog clears...and Carlos Rodon is standing out on the pier. Majestic. (5 IP, 3 BB, 9 K)
  • Three walks might be a smarter attack for Miguel Sano.
  • New Guy Alert! A Mike Trout has introduced himself with 417-ft fist bump. "Welcome to the party. Follow my lead." ~ Kyle Tucker w/434-ft shaka. Bold move, Tucker. Bold move.
  • Willians Astudillo happy to fill in for Arraez (GI issues).
  • Marcus Semien (two) drops some afternoon delight.
  • THUNDER! THUNDER! THUNDERCAT HOOOO! Giancarlo Stanton w/ 471-foot shot of old-school Saturday morning goodness.
  • Yes, Aaron Judge hit a homer too...a 344-ft Smurf version. Don't giggle. It counts.
  • Steven Matz on Sinker to Success program (47%). 6.1 IP, 1 ER, 9 K.
  • There's a certain amount of clout that comes with leading the league in HR: Whit Merrifield (three). "Excuse me, save some room for me." ~ Nick Castellanos (three) (2021 NL HR Champ). **Rocking chair creaking as Evan Longoria (three) grins in the corner.**
  • For a split second..Maybe Mike Foltynewicz can....nevermind.
  • "I'm a believer, I couldn't leave ya if I tried." J.D. Martinez (two) continues his resurgence.
  • Rowdy Tellez waiting to make the first hit a momentous one.
  • This just in: Freddy Galvis has more SB than Myles Straw.
  • "But PIT doesn't have any power." BOOM! BOOM! POW! Bryan Reynolds (one), Colin Moran (two), & Phillip Evans (445 ft) rewriting the script. Hey, Reynolds, we're talking about power, not speed.
  • Moose! A giant among his species, Mike Moustakas still sends care packages. 1B, 2B, maybe 3B eligibility? Sweet!
  • Nick Senzel. Do Pilates & Yoga to stay on the field. Not kidding.
  • Javier Baez exudes swagger. I'm here for it..and his first HR.
  • Ummm. Nick Pivetta with a W.
  • Don't worry about Paul DeJong's seven K. He has a plan.
  • Willson Contreras is efficient. One hit, one homer.
  • Daniel Ponce de Leon with a W (5 IP, 1 ER, 3 K). Brewers next. Giggity giggity.
  • Trevor Rogers (4 IP, 2 ER, 4 BB, 6 K). He was a little too walky-walky. Don't give up on him.
  • Oooh-weee. Trevor Williams mixin pitches. (W, 6 IP, 2 ER, 6 K).
  • The location was no friend of Frankie Montas (2.2 IP, 7 ER).
  • Dylan Moore (two) will run, whether you like it or not.
  • Jacob deGrom excels foiled by bullpen. Look at my face. Am I surprised. I'm surprised it was a Gemini (May).

Swing & Misses

Endgame

  • Good mornin'. More injuries. Don't get frustrated. Show some heart, Silent Bob. These people are playing the game we love. -Have a great Tuesday. Fresh cup of joe, java, or jamba juice is ready to help you start your day. You've got to do the rest.
