Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox - Yesterday's Recap

Welcome to the Monday, August 26th edition of Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox.

Discussing baseball is as fun as the game itself. It has a way of bringing people together to share different opinions about the sport we all love. A similar action can be done with fantasy baseball where we not only discuss topics but also look to improve our teams as well as the teams of our fellow fantasy baseball enthusiasts. Everyone has their own perspectives which are not to be cast off as frivolous. They should be used as a method of expanding our own knowledge.

In this article, I review the previous day's boxscores and provide my opinion on a variety of topics. Some will be random, some will be fun, and some will be stat-driven. It's a soapbox so I may rant from time to time as well. So without any further delay, below are my thoughts on August 26th. Enjoy them. You can even respond with your own thoughts on Twitter @EllisCan2.

Daily Musings

  • Five saves from Mark Melancon in two weeks is more than Felipe Vazquez provided in two months.
  • So, Jonathan Villar, are you trying to tell us something (five HR in last week), aside from you love playing in Camden?
  • Renato Nunez, please don’t be injured.
  • Elieser Hernandez whooped Aaron Nola. Nope. Doesn't work like that. Stop saying it.
  • Josh Donaldson definitely brought it. Two monster raindrops.
  • Because he’s been bad doesn’t mean he will be bad. Franmil Reyes sends a shoutout to the crowd twice.
  • PLEASE, give me a top-six pick in 2020. Francisco Lindor is mine. I don’t care if SS is deep. Reserve the right to change to Mookie Betts.
  • Josh VanMeter provides the combo meal to those really hungry.
  • Eugenio Suarez has done it. Caught up & set new career-high in HR(35). Now address the R+RBI & AVG.
  • Did Trevor Bauer not get the memo that it was the Pirates?
  • Jose Altuve hit 24HR (career-high) w/.304AVG. People only focused on “no SB”(5).
  • Ooh-la-la. Welcome to the 40HR/25SB station. Rehydrate & move along. You said you were going to the 50HR station, Christian Yelich.
  • Eduardo Escobar still befuddles me w/29HR, 101RBI. 41.7%Chase & 12.2%SwingStrike rates.
  • Is German Marquez really this good? No one’s complaining about 17 wins.
  • Clayton Kershaw didn’t win, but he had the goods.
  • Joey Lucchesi able to tame the Red Sox. How many actually scored the W?
  • Kirby Yates w/37 saves. How did I get no shares?
  • J.D. Martinez hasn’t built full rapport w/new balls yet. Only 31HR.
  • Anyone else figured out the Wins category? Marco Gonzales at 14.
  • Mark Canha is more than just a space-filler. 4HR, 10RBI, .444AVG last week.
  • Victor Robles w/two thieveries. 23 steals plays up in my book.
  • Lane Thomas trying to start a little love machine.
  • Have a great Monday. It is just another day, but a day that you can take control of, like any other.
  • No Fear, Just Fantasy.
