Corey Dickerson (OF, PHI) - Week 20 Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues

OWNED IN: 26% of Yahoo leagues

ANALYSIS: In Corey Dickerson we have one of the few players that moved places this past July before the new "hard" trade deadline. Dickerson made the All-Star in 2017. He won a Gold Glove award last year playing for Pittsburgh. His fWAR has never been lower than 2.6 in seasons he's played more than 130 games. Dickerson's Exit Velocity has lowered (from a peak 89.7 to 87.4 this year), same as his Barrel% (11.3% to 7.7%). He's got 24 extra-base hits in 2019 and six HR to date. Dickerson's batting average sits at a career-best .315 right now. He's walking more than ever since his rookie season with an 8.2 BB%, and boasts a .464 BB/K.

In just five games playing for the Phillies, he has hit two home runs. He had hit just four in 44 games at Pittsburgh. He's been catching up lately and his offensive numbers are quite high for someone with low usage. His wRC+ of 134 is the 15th-best among OFs with at least 150 PA. Although Dickerson doesn't walk much (8.2% BB%), his K% is at a respectable 17.7%.

Dickerson's situation is still in the air, though. It depends on what happens when Jay Bruce comes back from the IL. Bruce is expected to take the LF position Dickerson has played at during the past few games. If Dickerson is not moved to the CF slot he will lose quite some playing time going forward. If he finds a place in the starting lineup his production could be more than enough in deep leagues given the price he can be acquired at.
