BALLER MOVE: Start in 10+ Team Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: DST1
ANALYSIS: The Indianapolis Colts' defense has emerged as an appealing fantasy football option for Week 15 (and the first week of the playoffs in many leagues). They host the Pittsburgh Steelers at 4:30 p.m. EST on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2023.
Although the Colts' defense has been a top-10 option in just four games this season, they benefit from a favorable matchup this weekend. Outside of a 421-yard outburst in their first game after firing offensive coordinator Matt Canada, the Steelers' offense has remained suspect all season long.
Opposing defenses are averaging a solid 8.2 fantasy points per game against the Steelers this year. While they don't turn over the ball an awful lot, the Pittsburgh offensive line is susceptible to giving up sacks and the offense in general doesn't score many points.
Beyond the enticing matchup, the Colts' defense has standalone value week after week. The unit has 12 interceptions over its last 10 games, and they also notched six sacks in Week 12 and Week 13. With Mitch Trubisky quarterbacking the Steelers, sacks and interceptions could occur frequently. This year, the veteran is averaging 1.5 interceptions in games where he has played more than 50 percent of snaps.
Ultimately, the Colts represent a very appealing option for playoff-bound managers who stream defenses. Indianapolis' defense figures to be productive against a struggling Steelers squad on Saturday.
