ANALYSIS: Former No. 2 overall pick Carson Wentz was signed by the Los Angeles Rams on November 8 during the team's Week 10 bye. Reports suggest Matthew Stafford (thumb) could return in Week 11, but setbacks can and do happen, so Sean McVay clearly felt the need to add depth to the quarterback room.
After stints with the Philadelphia Eagles, Indianapolis Colts, and Washington Commanders, Wentz was a free agent all season until this week. Now that he's on a roster, he enters the fantasy radar in deep two-QB and superflex leagues. Brett Rypien struggled mightily in his Week 9 start against the Green Bay Packers, so Wentz could win the backup quarterback job quickly. If so, there's a real chance he could draw a start this season.
Although he's viewed as a mediocre quarterback, he has had fantasy success in recent memory. Last year with Washington, he posted 22.9 or more fantasy points in three of his first five starts. With Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua to throw to, he'd have at least QB2 upside if he is thrown into game action this year.
